Savitri Bai Phule Women Forum (SWF)/ सावित्री बाई फुले महिला पंचायत was formed in 2002 by Ms. Shruti Nagvanshi and two women from the community Ms. Kalawati and Ms. Durga for creating gender equal society through discussions and intervention in the cases of gender discrimination, patriarchy and women oppression due to caste hierarchical system in India.
SWF ideology is inspired by the Savitri Bai Phule
and Jyotiba Phule ,father of the Dalit movement,
Dr. B. R. Ambedkar and Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi who struggled against
patriarchy and the caste hierarchical system.
On 12 June, 2003 Jan
Mitra Nyas has officially includes Savitri Bai Phule Women as its women platform
in its board meeting. Now the forum is
providing its expertise support and helping in grassroot implementation of
comprehensive program on woman and child and torture.
The forum has active
member in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Jharkhand state of India.
OUR VISION: To
establish a true, vibrant and fully entrenched democratic society through ‘Laingik
Mitra Samaj’ (Gender Equal society) concept where there shall be no violation
of rights granted to a women, a girls and sexual minority by the state.
OUR MISSION: To provide basic rights to women, girls and
sexual minority, to eliminate situations, which give rise to their exploitation
and to start a movement for a women rights friendly society through an
inter-institutional approach.
